Toilet handle needs to be held down for full flush?

I had a leaking toilet which I fixed with replacing the flapper valve with a new Korky universal one.

But now, to get a full flush, I have to hold down the handle for about 5 seconds, rather than pushing and releasing as before.

I checked the chain length for the valve and only had slight slack. I adjusted it, but didn't fix it (it also made the water drain slightly in the bowl - thus making the toilet run again).

Any ideas?
UPDATE: I fixed it with a new Flushmaster flapper - the version that had a dial on to adjust how the flush will operate. Thanks!

Some times the universal flapper valve is not that universal. You might need the kind that has Styrofoam made into the flapper. These float when the lever is tripped and stay open longer, which is what you are looking to do. There are some that have a float on the chain and other that have an adjustment dial on the flapper that you set as needed. Also, check the water level in the tank to make sure it is set at the correct height.

You should try a cycle shop as there are many cycles and tricycles that use this size of wheel and therefore tyre. They will have the necessary contacts with tyre companies too.

All I have against my wife abusing my son is e-mail and yahoo messenger archives. Can I use these in Arkansas courts?

How to get horrible stain off leather purse?

Some butter melted in my leather purse (long story) and it seeped through the leather on the bottom of my purse. Please let me know how i can get the stain out because my purse looks horrible now.

This will have to be restored rather then cleaned as it will need a degreasing process which may also remove the colour.

Why does my t-shirts get yellow stripes on the shoulders after hanging in the closet?

I am asking this question for my grandma. She gets yellow stripes on her t-shirts after they have hung in the closet. She does smoke, but she does not smoke in the bedroom. Her shirts are the only shirts that get the stripes. They do wash off though in the washer. Its a mystery!

It is probably the smoke taking a ride on air borne dust. If she wants her clothing to stay clean in the closet, tell her to buy a roll of those dry cleaning bags and keep her garments in those to prevent the yellow shoulder stripes.

Need help on a VINTAGE TAPESTRY 2 in 1 purse or handbag??

I found a really unique purse on ebay this morning and WOW, it is very neat. It has a flloral tapestry outter layer that can be removed to reveal a more evening like purse.
I have asked a few questions and the seller says that there are not markings or tags.
The seller said it was from the 50s or 60 and I would have to agree - I remember seeing one smilar before.

Does anyone out there collect vintage purses? Can you help me with this one?

get the tote or tie tote! both are perfect for books. i have both, and they're just the right size. i think that some colors are retiring soon (like petal pink, my favorite!) so some stores might have sales on the retiring colors. (the store near me gets up to 40% off for retired styles!)

Is black on black interior in a luxury car more luxurious than beige leather with wood grain?

I am planning to buy a nice luxury car. Problem is the middle model has a variety of different leather colors and accent finishes; but the top model (pricier model) was made with only black leather with black/gray marble-looking accents. This makes me believe that people believe a black on black interior to be more luxurious than a colored one.

I know it is up to my personal preference but I wanted to get opinions because I can go either way. Thanks.

Can a 10 lb bag of red potatoes be frozen?

I am buying a 10 lb bag of red potatoes for a Christmas recipe. Because of my bleak finances I have to buy all of my groceries on Dec. 8th. So can I put these in the freezer until Christmas? If I leave them under the counter will they go bad before Christmas? The recipe is red potatoes with smoked gouda and bacon baked in the oven, fyi.

Freezing potatoes without blanching them first will cause them to turn to mush before you got to cooking them. Best storage is in a cool, (very) dry, dark, environment. If you manage to have the correct environment you would be able to store the potatoes for months, that's how the suppliers do it. Dry and dark will help keep the potatoes from sprouting. They also need to be in a breathable container, definitely not a plastic bag. Paper works well. Or burlap like the old potato sacks.

Ok I love designer handbags but most of the clothes that I wear are more edgy rock and roll looking or mod even, so does anyone know of any bags that will suit my clothes better? When applying for a part time job, here are some tips one must remember when going up to a potential employer;

• One must prepare a resume when applying for part time work. Even if the person does not have experience, it will show the employer that a little effort was made on the part of the applicant in producing something on paper. The resume may contain highlights or strengths about the applicant which could make the applicant stand out over other people that have applied for the same position and in the end get that job.

• When meeting an employer, being dressed appropriately is important. It shows the sincerity one has in applying for the job. One must be that finger-nails and hair are well groomed for the interview. The outfit worn could be business casual. A polo and khaki pants will be ideal for men and a polo and skirt for the women will do well for the interview. This would mean that moderate shoes must be used to match the outfit. If one wears a lot of earrings, it is advisable to remove some to present the person better.

• Getting a job is not easy and there will be a lot of times that the employer will say “no.” This is nothing personal but some employers will prefer someone who has some experience. Even if one is rejected, the person must not give up in getting that part time and move on to the next potential employer.

• When one is already in front of the employer, a firm handshake is always a good start. Walking in and showing ones sincerity in getting the job is another. There is only so much one say in interview so it is best to practice in selling to the person the strengths one possesses in order to get that job.

• In the course of going from one employer to another, the employer will not give the answer at once if the person is hired or not. Other applicants will still be interviewed before making that decision. By keeping a list of the places where one went for interview, one will be able to call and follow up the status of the application.

Part time jobs are available in various places. One might find one while walking in the neighborhood, checking the school bulletin board or local paper and even the web for job postings.
