How to get horrible stain off leather purse?

Some butter melted in my leather purse (long story) and it seeped through the leather on the bottom of my purse. Please let me know how i can get the stain out because my purse looks horrible now.

This will have to be restored rather then cleaned as it will need a degreasing process which may also remove the colour.

Why does my t-shirts get yellow stripes on the shoulders after hanging in the closet?

I am asking this question for my grandma. She gets yellow stripes on her t-shirts after they have hung in the closet. She does smoke, but she does not smoke in the bedroom. Her shirts are the only shirts that get the stripes. They do wash off though in the washer. Its a mystery!

It is probably the smoke taking a ride on air borne dust. If she wants her clothing to stay clean in the closet, tell her to buy a roll of those dry cleaning bags and keep her garments in those to prevent the yellow shoulder stripes.

Need help on a VINTAGE TAPESTRY 2 in 1 purse or handbag??

I found a really unique purse on ebay this morning and WOW, it is very neat. It has a flloral tapestry outter layer that can be removed to reveal a more evening like purse.
I have asked a few questions and the seller says that there are not markings or tags.
The seller said it was from the 50s or 60 and I would have to agree - I remember seeing one smilar before.

Does anyone out there collect vintage purses? Can you help me with this one?

Can a 10 lb bag of red potatoes be frozen?

I am buying a 10 lb bag of red potatoes for a Christmas recipe. Because of my bleak finances I have to buy all of my groceries on Dec. 8th. So can I put these in the freezer until Christmas? If I leave them under the counter will they go bad before Christmas? The recipe is red potatoes with smoked gouda and bacon baked in the oven, fyi.

Freezing potatoes without blanching them first will cause them to turn to mush before you got to cooking them. Best storage is in a cool, (very) dry, dark, environment. If you manage to have the correct environment you would be able to store the potatoes for months, that's how the suppliers do it. Dry and dark will help keep the potatoes from sprouting. They also need to be in a breathable container, definitely not a plastic bag. Paper works well. Or burlap like the old potato sacks.

Expert Tips on Buying and Selling Medium Term Notes (mtns)

While we discuss the importance of understanding MTNs (Medium-term Notes), we would like to preface with saying that much of this is personal opinion, observation, experience and activities that are none other than our research from InvestorEarth. There is much more to learn on the dynamics of the emanation of MTNs, how MTNs culminated and where they are going that we can't cover in this article. That is for another day; today, we will be giving you a simple overview of the life of a MTN.

This article will be comprised of certain inalienable truths and falsehoods. We'd like to review those one by one.

In much of this unique world of MTNs, CMOs and BGs, there is a seemingly generation full of passed down protocols. Something that we hear quite often is that there is no need and no such requirement for a POFs (Proof of Funds) Contract. While this may appear to be so for those more experienced in this genre of offerings, when the procedures are read, you will see that MT103/23, MT760's, MT799/999's, et. Cetera are etched within. These "MT-derivative" instruments are forms of POFs. Should you run across a client, buyer or representative colloquially bragging that they will not be providing POF's upfront; kindly and softly discourage further relations and discussion.

We hear it from others and it mystifies us continually when it is said that pension fund "Acquisition Groups" are prolific buyers. Where this idea has emanated from is beyond us but this is not the case. These pension fund managers are actually attempting to buy paper without any type of VOF (verification of funds) and are in reality attempting to use someone else's liquidity or in essence, "flip invoices". Steer clear of these groups as well as you will typically find yourself running on a wheel spindle inside a cage.

During a spot buy, the buyer/client is entitled to see the ISIN/CUSIP of the instrument. This however does not mean that they are entitled to see it for a contract. Some clients may ask you for the ISIN/CUSIP. Advise the client that they will have the opportunity to verify the instrument before paying and it does not follow protocol nor will they be allowed to view it ahead of time.

We are amused with the frequency of how often we hear six simple words; "I am direct to the Buyer" or, "I am the Buyer's Mandate". Ask if they are contracted or chartered by the client to get them paper. Do they directly correspond with the client or do they go through someone else. Typically, we find out that this wording means that they know someone who knows somebody who can get in touch of someone somehow. The key question is to ask how many people are involved to get "them" direct. The job does not fall on us to be your shoppers. Be sure to ask lots of specific, hard questions that require specific answers and don't be blinded by generalities in your excitement of getting a deal done.

There are those who profess to buy paper and then there are those who propose to buy paper. Two little words make a huge difference. When a week goes by and you hear, "The buyer is working on the paperwork", the reason the LOR/FPA hasn't been returned is typically conjunctive with the fact that "I have not found anyone who will follow along with the procedures". When a LOR/FPA isn't returned within a few hours, we know that this more than likely is a "dead buyer". For this reason, we do not forward any documents to anyone other than the client or his direct representative. Clients buy paper. That is what they do and how they realize phenomenal returns and continue to do so. When they are searching for more fresh cut and seasoned paper, it is because their appetite is larger than their available sources.

It is also heard that "brokers" can determine the amount of the split on the FPA. Broker's greed can more often than not kill the deal and result in the involved brokers being blacklisted. The Client determines ultimately the actions of the FPA. As always in our case, we usually see one, sometimes two available slots out of three that are proportionately shared in the fees. Many groups never make it past this phase.

The timeframe for an MTN to close is roughly a week when due diligence, compliance and verification of funds are fulfilled. Deals do not close in a day. One snag that holds up transactions is that the client wants to talk to the platform trader. This usually means that the client is a broker. Trade platforms never talk to a client until compliance has been met.

Another hiccup is when the client wants to modify a trade contract to further cater to his wishes. This never materializes and typically results in the client no longer being able to work with the trading platform. Remember that LORs and RWA's are guidelines only and are not set in stone. It is ultimately up to the trade platform and program being offered. Remember in the world of MTNs and BGs, the seller drives the boat, not the client.

These are the main cliff notes, so to speak, of the progression of MTN's. How to Choose a Backpack

Your backpack will probably be the single most important purchase you will make before hitting the road. It can be your best friend or worst enemy, depending on which one you pick. With that in mind, here are a few pointers to consider when choosing one.

Size IS Important

Before choosing a pack, have an idea of what’s going to go in it. Visualise the contents, understand your needs, and shortlist a range of rucksacks accordingly. The shortlist should contain rucksacks big enough for the largest loads you will carry, but no bigger - as the larger the pack, the more you may be inclined to fill it. But don’t go too small either, as an overloaded pack may feel uncomfortable and unstable, and may force you to have to secure extra gear on the outside thus increasing the risk of loss or damage.

The choices on offer can be put into the following categories:-

Daypacks (15 - 35L) - Small packs with minimal or no internal frame to support loads, so all weight is transferred through shoulder straps. Perfect for day trips and shorter outings.

Alpine Packs (35 - 55L) and Backpacking Packs (55 - 75L) – This will be the area to concentrate in for a backpacking or RTW trip. If possible, the smaller alpine pack. Both offer many of the comprehensive features of larger rucksacks whilst keeping physical weight and size to a minimum.

Expedition Rucksacks (75 - 100L) – These packs are huge. Possibly necessary for trips involving many climate changes for those wishing to carry all their gear from the word go, or for those wishing to practice for SAS Selection! If you fill one of these remember that you may and up carrying mucho, mucho Kilos…

Travel Packs - Essentially, these are like soft suitcases with shoulders straps that can be covered (to avoid snagging when not being carried). They are most certainly an option to consider, as these front opening packs make it easier to access your gear compared to conventional top-loading rucksacks. They may also engender a greater air of respectability if checking in to hotels or at border crossings. The downside is that they are generally a little more expensive and also bulkier than their rucksack equivalent.

Fitting

Ensuring the pack is a good fit is of paramount importance. If possible, try each pack with some weight in. It may feel quite different. Fill up the pack with weight approximate to that you would be carrying, distributing it as best you can. After you have achieved a good fit be sure to test drive the pack a little. Lean forward, backward, and also sway from side to side. The pack should remain snug, and not swing wildly or throw you off balance.

Walk around with it - even up and down some stairs if possible. Concentrate on ensuring yourself that the weight is being distributed evenly. Be aware of any minor niggles, as these will become painfully apparent after several hours on your feet with a heavy pack on a hot day.

What to Look For

Shoulder Straps - Focus on packs with wide, well padded (yet firm), shoulder straps. Ensure that the straps keep the pack central and well balanced, that they don’t slip (a good, solid chest strap should help with this), and that they keep the pack snug yet don’t chaff or restrict arm and upper body movement.

Hip Belt – Often overlooked, a good Hip Belt is essential. It should be strong enough to bear the main pack weight as it will, when used properly, transfer the weight from your back to your hips, thus considerably increasing comfort and reducing back strain when wearing the pack for prolonged periods of time. Ensure that the band is semi rigid, and that it has soft, broad padding so to avoid creating pressure points that will all too quickly become very painful. On large packs, the hip belt is the main load-bearing component, so remember to use it – it makes a world of difference.

Other Straps - Side compression straps come highly recommended. After the rucksack is packed, these can be pulled tight to further reduce the size of your pack. It may make the difference between being able to have it as carry on luggage for flights, fitting it overhead luggage compartments on busses, and actually being parted with it on other such journeys. They also serve to increase pack stability by holding the load closer to your back.

Pay attention to the types of adjustments on these straps, too. Can they be adjusted whilst wearing the pack? Are they difficult to adjust? Inversely, do they adjust too easily and will therefore change when I don’t want them too?

Also look out for other types of adjustments. Although they may seem surplus to requirements at the moment, they will enable the wearer to further fine tune how the pack sits and feels at a later stage.

Pockets - Ensure there are enough pockets for your needs. Lid pockets are especially useful for carrying items that need to be accessible in a hurry - such as guidebooks, for instance. Mesh pockets (usually located either side near the bottom of the pack) are great for holding wet gear should you be fresh out of those handy plastic bags. Outer side pockets are also exceptionally handy for storing items that you want quick access to whilst travelling – or when your rucksack is half buried in other luggage - and are large enough to accommodate substantial items such as water bottles and tasty road-nibbles. In general, pockets allow for a better separation of your gear. If you like a modicum of organisation, including somewhere separate to put your skanky pants, you can never have too many pockets.

Compartments – If you opt for a top loading pack then it’s advisable to choose one with at least two, separately accessible, compartments - thus providing access from both the top and the bottom of the pack. This arrangement is ideal if packing/unpacking is a regular occurrence, as you can put your most used items in one compartment, and makes for a good compromise if you were also considering the purchase of a Travel Pack. You may also find that internal diaphragms separating the two can be unzipped to accommodate larger items if need be.

Top Flap – If opting for a top loading pack then look for a top flap that will extend if need be. It’s a must-have for those temporary overloads and can always be used to stuff extra little bits under when your rucksack is already packed and secured.

Back Pads and Stays – These days, rucksacks generally come with a padded back piece as standard, although better quality versions will also have ventilation features built in. Ergonomic, raised ribs of foam will allow better airflow between the carrier and the rucksack. This airflow means greater comfort, less sweat, and a smaller laundry pile after a few days of overland travel.

Lightweight, aluminium stays fitted in the rucksack (sometimes removable) maintain backpack shape and ensure good weight transfer between the shoulders and the Hip belt. Some versions are smaller, and therefore less intrusive, than others and will come pre-curved thus providing greater comfort.

Durability – Take a closer look. Check for durable, waterproof/water resistant fabrics and tightly stitched seams. Pay particular attention to where straps fix to the main body. Pull the seams apart, and be wary if stitching becomes clearly visible. Ideally, internal seams should be covered by fabric as it will make them less prone to wear. The base should be constructed from an incredibly durable material – or at least the same material as the body of the pack but double lined or double thickness - as that’s the part of the pack which will be most prone to being scuffed and torn.

Ensure that all zippers and catches look up to the job. Try them all several times to get a feel for their durability and functionality. Are the zipper handles too small? Can I fit a padlock through them? Are there double zippers that meet in the middle in case one breaks? These are all things to consider.

The benefits of hitting the road with the right backpack cannot be underestimated. Sure, you can travel with almost any bag – I used to borrow packs, in fact. But a comfortable, well-fitting pack will not only be physically beneficial, but will make life a little easier in the long run.

Remember going to the circus and seeing some 6 ft tall clown riding into the center ring on a mini-bike with his knees hunched up around the top of his head. Everyone laughs at this sight because it seems so ridiculous. What a sight: Grown man and women riding around on such a tine vehicle.

Well, it isn't funny anymore with the introductions of the pocket bikes or as some refer to them as pocket rockets. Whether you are an adult, teenager or a young adult, it will draw the same response...Wow! These small versions of full motorcycles weigh between 45 and 90 pounds and seat their driver about 18 to 24 inches off the ground. These are not something to laugh about. They are serious machines. They are not toys even though looking at one; you are tempted to dismiss the pocketbike as a toy.

Pocket bikes or pocket rockets can be deadly since they aren't toys. It is easy to get in the mindset that because the pocket bikes are not only small and fast but they can be ridden anywhere--on sidewalks, in bicycle lanes, and on the street. Get rid of that though immediately. These gas-powered models have been modified can reach speeds up to 45 mph or even faster.

The bikes are usually imported without your typical safety features for motorcycles. They don't have brake lights, mirrors, turn signals, right kind of tires or even reflectors. They are fun pocket rockets but they don't meet current federal safety standards for street-legal vehicles. Is your child old enough to understand that this is not a toy? Are you going to spend the time to supervise your child on a pocket rocket?

If at anytime, you can't do any of them and I mean "any", then buying one is not the responsible thing to do.

The violator shall be responsible for all costs associated with the removal, seizure and storage. The pocket bike you have purchased or obtained is strictly prohibited from being operated on a sidewalk, roadway, or any other part of a highway, or on a bikeway, bicycle path or trail, equestrian trail, hiking or recreational trail, or on public lands open to off highway vehicle use. A violation of this regulation may result in prosecution and seizure of the device.

I am not trying to put a damper on your fun. Just take a few minutes to think about the responsibility of owning a pocket bike or as some like to call them "pocket rockets". For me, I love them but I am afraid if I get down on one, I might not be able to get up again. If you buy and there is nothing wrong with that, just remember, your responsibility requirements have now increased significantly.
