Adidas Ltd. is a German sports apparel manufacturer and part of the Adidas Group, which consists of Reebok Sportswear Company, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company, and Rockport. Besides sports footwear, the company also produces other products such as bags, shirts, and other sports and clothing related goods. Two brothers Adolf (“Adi”) Dassler and Rudolf (“Rudi”) Dassler started a shoe business 1924. Their business became a big success but not for a long time. They split up in 1948 with Adi forming Adidas and Rudi forming another shoe company.

The name Adidas is formed from "Adi" (a nickname for Adolf) and "Das" (from "Dassler").

Adidas provides a wide variety of products to customers worldwide. One of the main focuses of Adidas is football kit and associated equipment. Their football boots and team kits are widely used by top professional club teams. Adidas remain a major player in the supply of team kits for international football teams.
